Maria Valencia is a freshman Radio/Television/Film major at Northwestern University, originally from Cali, Colombia.
Maria Valencia is a 19-year-old student born and raised in Colombia pursuing a degree in Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University. She is planning on double majoring in Creative Writing, to further expand her knowledge in the art of storytelling as an aspiring screenwriter and filmmaker.
A passionate writer and content creator, she is involved both in and off-campus in clubs and activities related to literature, philosophy, filmmaking, fashion and social media influencing. She is part of the prose staff of Helicon, Northwestern’s literary and arts magazine, the clothing committee of UNITY, Northwestern’s charity fashion show, and is the secretary of WiPhi (Women in Philosophy). Moreover, she is a general crew member of NSTV (Northwestern Sketch Television), Applause for a Cause and NUWFA (Northwestern University Women Filmmakers Alliance). She can also be found working on various sets for student-produced films.
Maria Valencia has created a platform for self-expression with her style blog, due to which she has been contacted by brands and online stores such as SheIn, Adore Me, shopspring.com, MakeSpace and Eventbrite amongst others to collaborate on social media marketing projects. This has allowed her to understand her social media presence as not only an exploration of personal style and aesthetics, but as a medium to learn about branding and marketing strategies.
Finally, as an extrovert and highly social person, she is extremely excited by the idea of meeting new people and making friends. Contact her via email or any of her social media platforms and she will definitely answer.
